How to Sew a Round Cosmetic Bag

Round cosmetic bags make delightful storage pouches for organizing all your favorite beauty products. The circular shape gives them a unique look while still providing practical functionality. Sewing a round makeup bag is a quick and easy beginner sewing project, requiring only basic skills and tools. Choose Durable Fabrics

Look for fabrics with body and structure that will hold the round shape well when stuffed with products. Good options include:

Denim - Stiff fabric that comes in many colors

Home decor weight cotton - Sturdy but still soft

Purchase at least 1/2 yard of your chosen fabric so you have enough to cut two circles with diameter plus seam allowance.

Consider Interfacing for Extra Structure

Cut Fabric Circles

Clip Seam Allowances

Turn and Press

Gently turn the sewn circle right side out through the opening. Use a chopstick or blunt pencil to push out curves fully. Press with an iron, turning seam allowances in at the opening.

Topstitch and Close Up Opening

Edge stitch all around the top perimeter to reinforce the shape. Then hand sew or slip stitch the opening closed. Add a button, tab or ribbon tie closure if desired.
