12-inch zipper to match fabrics

Step-by-Step Tutorial

Step 1: Cut two 9"x12" fabric rectangles from exterior and lining fabrics.

Step 2: Pin zipper horizontally across the middle of exterior fabric pieces, right sides facing up.

Step 3: Topstitch zipper in place along both long sides of the zipper tape.

Step 4: Partially unzip zipper. Place lining fabric atop exterior fabric with right sides facing in.

Step 5: Sew around all edges with 1⁄2" seam allowance, leaving 5" opening in lining.

Step 6: Clip corners and trim zipper seam allowance. Turn bag right side out through lining gap.

Step 7: Tuck lining seam allowances in and stitch closed. Topstitch around top edge.
